I even got to use Norm's computer for a little bit while he was getting ready for the shift.
Since Norm is a sergeant he holds roll call in the squadroom where the troops get their assignments and stuff.
I thought Bob wasn't looking and made a move for his coffee. Without looking up he mentioned that he was armed and if I touched his coffee it would get "very bad" for me. I went back to my side of the table...
After roll call I got a tour of the building. This is the conference room, and the chair Norm sits in during meetings.
This is what it looks like from Norm's bosses chair. Its a wonder that they don't have phones or an intercom to talk to each other they are so far apart.
This was SO COOL!! I got to actually go past this sign! I was "authorized" so I didn't turn into coal or anything bad going beyond the door.
This is the place the bad guys go when they "get hooked" and brought in. I thought getting hooked was just for fishing. Norm says its the same thing, fishing for fish or fishing for bad guys, both eventually get hooked.
The bench. It is the one place everyone gets to sit and chill while all of the paperwork is getting done. It certainly wasn't comfortable.
I wasn't even driving! |
This would be a lonely walk if it wasn't just a visit. Norm said when the bad guys can't get out of jail they get a room for the night. NOT my idea of 5 star accommodations!
I got real nervous when Norm said that this would be a cool shot. I wasn't so sure he would open the door afterwards.
Of course I had to have a souvenir photo of my visit.
It was fun wandering around in the restricted area, but I felt a whole lot better after we left that part of the building.
The stairs went up to locker rooms and offices. After I got to the top Norm said there wasn't anything to see up there so I had to walk back down. He showed me an elevator later. Jerk.
This is the report writing room. It was quiet since our shift was just starting. Normally its real busy in here.
I told Norm the building was nice and all but what I really wanted to do was get out in the car, go fast and use the lights and siren. He told me to be quiet.
This was better than I thought! I'll tell you one thing... Make sure the windows are UP when the sirens blast!
I had to sit on the computer to see when we went out.
Well, that was it. What a great time, but I can see why Norm said it was time to hang it up. At the end of the shift I was thoroughly exhausted. You can't imagine how many donuts you have to eat in 8 hours...
Talk to you soon,
Travis
